Interior Layout

The guest cabin and head are forward with a queen V berth. The captain's cabin and head are aft with an island queen bed. Electronics include a (new) Chart Plotter, (new) Radar, (refurbished) Auto Pilot, Depth Sounder, VHF and SSB radios. A stereo and iphone give us music. When an access point is available we have WiFi throughout the boat thanks to our long distance WiFi antennae and Ubiquiti Bullet Client Bridge. Computers are used for charting our course, email, web browsing and watching movies and TV shows which we bring aboard on hard drives. (1 more piece of equipment and the computers will talk to the chart plotter!)

Two air conditioner units and a generator make for a very comfortable boat. The galley has both a refrigerator and a generous freezer. The (new 2016)propane fueled 3 burner stove and oven has prepared some tasty meals. The freezer makes ice for all the sundowners we consume. The main salon converts to a double berth so we can carry 4 passengers in addition to Captain Roy and 1st Mate Dale.

Here are photos after the winter of 2011/2012 refurbishing.

The Salon, Bar and Galley

Forward of the Salon is the guest V Berth and Head.  Roy says its only for fast ladies because of the racing stripe.

Looking Aft from the Saloon is the hall and nav station. The covered baskets hold lots of goodies and keep the salon "ship shape". The instrument panel at the nav station handles the electrical system for Wahoo. It also has a new safety feature added last year.  The Epirb, supposedly it will send help in a nano second. We discovered last year that it also sends an "I'm safe message" when we are out of cellphone reach. In 2021 we purchased a Spot X and can now have 2 way communication anywhere plus send tracking messages to those that want to follow our journey.

Aft of the Nav Station is the Captain's Quarters - I'm sure glad he lets me share them.

The steps leading down from the companionway have been refinished. In 2012 we had a hugh sun shade made for when Wahoo is laid up in the tropics and with just a few repairs it still provides protection and shade.
Some interior work like repairing the water damage on the cabin sole and the refinishing of the woodwork in the salon was handled in 2013 during our first stay on the Rio Dulce in Guatemala.

arrival of "big" dinghy
The Princess 3 burner stove, was replaced in 2016, and is still churning out great Caribbean dishes. An AIS receiver and new VHF radio at the helm were installed in 2016. The rigging was also replaced in St Martin in 2016 and a new 9.5ft dinghy and outboard was purchased near the same time. That dinghy was too small so a new 10.5ft dinghy was purchased in 2017.

Boat upgrades are continuous and many small upgrades won't get a mention. But, among the noteworthy in 2017 was having the cabin sole refinished with 8 coats of Epifanes Hand Rubbed polyurethane(wow, what a difference that made). While the guys at Tortugal Marina were at it we had them refinish the salon table and companionway stairs. We completed  the interior varnishing by doing the v-berth, aft cabin and both heads. We did this over several years and finished by 2020. In addition a new mattress is now in the V berth (2021).

In 2018 the bimini/dodger was replaced and the galley got a makeover with new counter, sink and faucet. The Lifeline 8D AGM batteries first added in 2010 last about 4 years. New ones are going in again in a couple of weeks (Feb, 2022).

We bought a newer better Raymarine chart plotter in 2021. An Axiom plus touch screen that does everything but make morning coffee. The generator has been rebuilt and a new inverter-charger installed all during early 2022. Big and small projects over the last few years included changing out the hoses that connect the heads to the holding tank (they get old and stinky), painting the pole for the dining table, the AC grills, the steering column and the mast step that runs from the deck through the cabin sole to the keel. All where rusty after years of salty air.

The bottom was sanded to the gelcoat and new barrier paint and topcoats of Petit Trinidad were applied at RAM Marine on the Rio Dulce in June, 2021. We wanted to get it all done while we're still on the Rio with wonderful workmanship at extremely reasonable prices.

Wahoo has always been a lovely, sturdy boat and now she's a beauty!
